What Erik has to say…

When I first met Lauren I knew she was special.  She is a caring, compassionate, person.  She shows her love to others in so many ways by being a good listener, by helping, and simply by being supportive when needed.  She always looks to put others first and their needs often come ahead of hers. 

Lauren like myself, grew up on Long Island, she has three sisters and a big brother for siblings. We see her sisters and Lauren’s  nieces on a regular basis at all kinds of  family gatherings.  Growing up, her family activities often included going camping in the summer, Star Island was a favorite place. Canoeing, hiking, roaring camp fires, roasting marshmallows, and gazing at the stars where some favorite pastimes.  She definitely grew up with a love for the outdoors.  She has already started introducing some of these activities to Aleksander.  They even have commandeered my telescope and explored the night sky.  Alek just loves the moon.  Sometime when it’s out in the day time he will spot it and point it out to us.

When it comes to Aleksander, she is a great mother. She understands Alek and his needs completely even when he just seems cranky or is unable to vocalize it.  Even when I know she’s tired, she never lets on to Alek. She won’t ever lose her patience with him and she always has time for him. Even on those sleepless nights in the beginning when she was exhausted since he only slept 3 hours at a time.

Alek and Lauren often go on little walks or little red wagon rides around our neighborhood and she introduces him to all the sights to see.  Lauren also likes to take Alek to Toddler Park, a local park designed just for the little ones.  She likes meeting the other moms and introducing Alek to the kids in the neighborhood who he will be growing up with.

Alek likes helping mommy with the laundry, moving it from the washer to the dryer (he likes throwing the socks up in the air) and cleaning the lint filter. He also helps Lauren make the weekend breakfast- mixing up the pancake batter together. When he’s finished with a dish, he puts the cup or glass in the sink to help mommy too.  Lauren, is a truly amazing friend, a loving wife, and a devoted mother.
